Damien Pfister

I just whipped through these three as well, and agree with your characterization of Larsson toeing the line. I read, though, as demonstration of the appalling sexual violence against women...in Sweden (!--so much for our social-democratic paradise!)

I'd be interested in hearing your read after finishing the third book, which I think has a tone quite different from the first two (vis-a-vis Lisbeth.)

The movie pushes this line even more--if you're feeling uncomfortable with "the scene" between Salander and Bjurman, just wait till you get the visual. Yes, the director went there. Unflinchingly. Although Salander's revenge in the film is slightly more delicious (in a predictably sick, eye for an eye kind of way).
