Like Toby Keith, I love this bar. I've always been a guy who likes A bar. For the past several years here in Athens, that bar has been 283. A block or so from my office, filled with good people, the place to be with human geography students and faculty, with rhetoric friends, with English and French friends, and, far more important, with baseball friends. Actually, it's filled with all kinds of people on a late Friday afternoon and evening. In this town, there's not been much better of late than some coffee and reading at Walker's on a warm, sunny Friday afternoon, followed by the "beverage switch" at 5 or so. So, as I head out of town, a thank you and much love to Laurie and Rachel (drive safely!), to Angela, Rob, Jack, Clayton, Heather, Michelle, Amy, Matt, Jonathan, and all the rest. I know the future is good, but I'll miss the past. Anytime you want to take the train up to Wrigley Field, just drop me a line. Hey, Chicago, whaddya say, the Cubs are gonna win today. I'll miss you.
