Could someone please explain to me why it's taking so long to impeach and convict Governor Rod Blagojevich? He proposed selling a U. S. Senate seat. On tape. Whether or not a court of law ends up sending him to jail, he has certainly provided the legislature with grounds to remove him from office. So far as I can tell, not a single legislator has spoken in support of Blagojevich.
Yet there he sits. Appointing senators. Snubbing his nose at the nation. Embarrassing the state.
So why? What is taking so long? How complicated is this vote? What is there to discuss? Who opposes this action? Heck, at least they could impeach him; that's just an indictment. But no one seems willing to do that.
If I chose to run for the state legislature in 2010, for the House or Senate, I know right now what I'd do. I'd run an ad showing just how long it took the incumbents to remove this loser and I'd argue that, if they couldn't do this expeditiously, it's difficult to believe that they could find their own rear ends even if we gave them maps and flashlights. And if they can't do that, then how do they propose to run the state? Regardless of political party. EASY ad to make and run.
Get on with it, people. I'd like it to happen. Now. Or I'd like someone--seriously--to give to me some legitimate reasons why this is taking so long. I do not understand.
